Employee of the Month - December 2025

Home Posted on January 06, 2026

It is with great pleasure that Patrick County Administration recognizes Melissa Taylor as the December 2025 Employee of the Month.  Melissa’s nomination comes with tremendous enthusiasm from her supporter: “It is with great enthusiasm that I nominate Ms. Melissa Taylor for Employee of the Month for December 2025. Not only is her outstanding work known in the Building Inspection Department, but citizens across Patrick County are consistently graced with the world-class customer service she continually provides. She is the kind of employee that every organization hopes to hire. Melissa shows up every day and succeeds - not only for our department, but for Patrick County as a whole. She is, without question, more than deserving of this honor.”

Melissa began her employment with Patrick County Administration and Building Inspection in July 2017.  She serves as the first point of customer service contact, both in person and by telephone, for the County Administration and Building Inspection offices.  She later assumed additional duties for the Finance Department and has recently begun serving as the substitute Board of Supervisors Clerk when needed.  Always up to a challenge, Melissa is consistently willing to assist County Administration, her co-workers, and the public whenever the need arises.

Melissa is nominated in the categories of Exemplary Job Performance and Innovative Ideas/Processes.  As her nominator notes: “Melissa consistently performs her duties with quiet dedication and is truly the "glue" that holds the front office together.  She is punctual and frequently stays late to ensure projects are completed. She excels at multitasking, even in high-pressure or challenging situations. Not only does Melissa manage all her responsibilities with ease, she also welcomes additional duties outside her role. When one speaks of initiative, her can-do attitude immediately comes to mind. She is a fast learner and is quick, efficient, and effective at every task she is given.”

“Melissa is a vital resource across multiple departments. Her primary duties with the Building Inspection department include answering multiple phone lines, responding to inspection requests, processing permits, and issuing permits once finalized. She also manages all documentation related to permits and applications. In addition to her primary duties, Melissa serves as the primary contact for county vehicle reservations and oversees scheduling the board and conference rooms. These examples represent only a portion of her many contributions.”

Melissa’s nomination is also based on her outstanding teamwork and dependability.  As her nominator shared: “Melissa consistently prioritizes the needs of the team, often adjusting her own schedule to support her co-workers. Her personal touch with customers removes the "big government" feel and replaces it with a welcoming, approachable connection.”

“She is the definition of a team player. Her willingness to assist other departments is well known. Most recently Melissa spear headed efforts to support our department and the County Administrator with a FEMA Project that is extremely important to both County Administration and our citizens. Melissa had the answers!”

Any citizen or employee who enters the County Administration Office is immediately aware of the exceptional customer service Melissa provides.  “Melissa thrives in the customer service environment. A recent example of her dedication occurred during the employee Christmas luncheon, when she ensured the front office was staffed – even though it meant she was unable to attend the luncheon herself.  She did so without complaint, making certain the office continued to operate smoothly.  Melissa is the keystone in the front office. She is the face our citizens see, and there is a no finer first layer of welcome than what she provides. Her positive attitude is contagious and truly sets her apart. Melissa is the "Swiss Army knife" of the Administration office; there is no challenge she cannot handle effectively.”

Melissa’s nominator concluded the submission with the same overwhelming enthusiasm. “Ms. Taylor’s actions speak louder than words. Her dedication, innovation, and ability to work effectively with her team and the public have made her an invaluable asset—not only to the Building Inspection Department, but to the Administration team as a whole. Melissa is the employee that holds the departments together, a role that is often overlooked. It is with sincere and enthusiastic support that I recommend Ms. Melissa Taylor as the Employee of the Month for December 2025.”

Please join us in congratulating Melissa Taylor for being recognized as Patrick County’s December 2025 Employee of the Month!
