About Andrew
I was raised in Ararat, attended Blue Ridge Elementary School, and am a proud graduate of Patrick County High School, Class of 2000. I have always been a driven individual. Throughout my high school career, I was a member of the PCHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (JROTC) program and worked my way up to the highest position of Battalion Commander and rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel. My experience in high school influenced my decision to join the United States Army through the delayed entry program during my senior year.
Immediately following high school, I went onto active duty and was trained as an Intelligence Analyst and was later assigned as a Special Security Officer at the Gordon Regional Security Operations Center at Fort Gordon, GA. I left the Army in 2004 after completing my enlistment and attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Since leaving the Army, I have continued working in the security field with several different government agencies and federal contractors where I have attained positions of greater responsibility to include Personnel Security Specialist, Facility Security Officer, Director of Security, and my current position as Supervisory Security Specialist and Chief of Security Operations with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a bureau of the US Department of the Treasury. In my current position, I directly manage a $4.8M office budget and a combined federal civil service and contractor staff of 48 personnel and am also a Federal Acquisition Institute certified Contracting Officer Representative.
I currently reside in Ararat with my wife Michelle and three children, Lance, Alyssa and Easton. In my free time, I enjoy running my own small business as well as traveling and camping with my family.
The reason that I decided to run for the Board of Supervisors is that I want to ensure that the people of the Dan River District and Patrick County are well represented and can feel assured that their tax dollars are spent wisely and efficiently. I also want to ensure that the citizens are heard, questions are answered, and that the government remains transparent in all actions.
