Responsibilities

The General Registrar and the Electoral Board are responsible for managing all activities related to voter registration and the administration of all elections in Patrick County.

• January 1, 2026 - Holiday: New Year's Day - Closed

• February 16, 2026 - Holiday: George Washington Day - Closed

• June 16, 2026 - Tentative Primary Election: Polls open 6am to 7pm
• June 16, 2026- Deadline at 7pm for candidates to file for candidacy to appear on the November 3, 2026 Ballot. Forms can be found on the Virginia Department of Elections website

• September 18, 2026 - Early Voting Begins for the November 3, 2026 General Election at the Registrar's Office, Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm
• October 12, 2026 - Holiday: Columbus Day/Yorktown Victory Day - Closed
• October 23, 2026 - Deadline: Last day to register to vote or update voter's information for the November 3, 2026 General Election
• October 23, 2026 - Deadline: Last day to apply to receive a ballot by mail for the November 4, 2025 General Election
  
• October 24, 2026 - Early Voting at the Registrar's Office 8am to 5pm (Saturday)
• October 31, 2026 - Final Day of Early Voting at the Registrar's Office 8am to 5pm (Saturday)
• November 3, 2026 - Election Day - Polls Open 6am to 7pm
• November 4, 2026 - Canvass 7am at the Registrar's Office to canvass votes cast and consider any Provisional Ballots cast in the November 3, 2026 General Election
• November 6, 2026 - Deadline: Noon for Provisional No ID to provide a copy of acceptable ID to Electoral Board
• November 11, 2026 - Holiday: Veterans Day - Closed
• November 25 to 27, 2026 - Holiday: Thanksgiving - Closed starting noon on Wednesday
• December 24 to 25, 2026 - Holiday: Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
