Supervisors

Blue Ridge District

Mr. Clyde DeLoach

Mr. Clyde DeLoach, Vice-Chair

I was born in Danville, VA and my parents both worked in Dan River Mills. I went through high school in Danville and then went to the College of William and Mary. I worked as a Respiratory Therapist for 15 years before getting my Ph. D from Baylor University. I was a Methodist minister for 27 years and served at Stuart United Methodist from 2000 to 2007.

When I retired from the ministry, I moved back to Patrick County because I loved the area and the people. That love led me to run for the Board of Supervisors in 2019. I have enjoyed my time as supervisor and I am proud of what we have accomplished so far. I also teach online at Grand Canyon University.

Dan River District

Mr. Brandon Simmons

Mr. Brandon SimmonsI’m 38 years old, been in Patrick County just about all my life. I've been married to my wife Claire for 16 years and we have four children - Tobin, Landree, Elli, and Langston.

I've worked in retail since I was 15, owned my own business for the last 14 years. Was member of the Patrick County School Board for the last 4 years where I served one year as Vice Chairman and three years as Chairman. While serving on the School Board, we accomplished many things and as I make the transition from School Board to the Board of Supervisors I feel the schools are in a great place and will continue to improve and thrive in the future.

I look forward to doing what I can to help the citizens of the Dan River District and Patrick County as a whole in every way that I can.

Mayo River District

Mr. C. Clayton Kendrick, Jr.

Mr. C. Clayton Kendrick, Jr.

I am 67 years old I was born and raised in Patrick County. I attended school at Patrick Springs Elementary, Hardin Reynolds Elementary and Patrick County High School. I was in the Boy Scouts Troop 69 for many years and I think it had a lot to do with making me who I am, we had some great Scout Masters.

My first job was at the old Stuart Flooring and Masonite Plant which I started full time in the 10th grade by taking Distributive Education and getting out of school at noon and then going into work at 3pm till 11pm. Then I worked at J.P. Stevens rubber thread plant located where Walmart is now. Next I worked at Fieldcrest Towel Mills while also working with my dad during the last two jobs cutting pulpwood, logs and operating a saw mill. We worked in the factory on second shift.

I’ve owned and operated Kendrick Paving - a paving, grading, sealing and gravel hauling business for over 40 years and I have a small cattle farm. I am married to Editha Kendrick. I am a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

I know what it means to work hard for your money, and I promise as long as I am the supervisor from the Mayo River District, I will do all I can to see that taxpayer money is spent wisely and tax rates kept as low as possible. Patrick County is a great place to grow up in and live and I intend to live the rest of my life here.

Ms. Denise Stirewalt

Prior to being elected as Peters Creek District Supervisor in 2019, I worked for Patrick County in the Tourism and Economic Development departments, in private sector real estate for 12 years, and in the tourism industry at the Asheville NC Chamber of Commerce CVB. My strong work ethic comes from watching my parents work hard. I had my first job at the age of 15 and have worked ever since. My passion is serving the citizens of Patrick County, and seeing our county grow. I am very proud of the accomplishments the board has made during my first 2 years.

My husband Gene and I have been married for 29 years and have 3 children, and 3 grandchildren. We are members of Stuart Baptist Church.
