The 3rd annual Covered Bridge festival will be hosted in Woolwine, Virginia. There will be live bands performing throughout the day, numerous artists and craftsmen exhibiting and selling their products, and food vendors. Wagon and hay rides will be available to travel to the covered bridges. Covered Bridge History Jack's Creek Covered Bridge crosses the Smith River in Patrick County on Route 615 just west of Route 8 about two miles south of Woolwine. The 48-foot span built of oak was constructed in 1914 by Charles Vaughan of the Buffalo Ridge area and designed by Walter Weaver of Woolwine. This historic landmark has been bypassed by a modern bridge but has been preserved by the County for future generations. Bob White covered bridge can be reached by traveling 1.5 miles south on Route 8, east one mile on Route 618 to Route 869, then south one-tenth of a mile. This 80-foot truss construction over the Smith River was built in 1921. It served as a connection between Route 8 and Smith River Church of the Brethren on the south side of the Smith River. Bob White Covered Bridge was designed and constructed by Walter Weaver. Sponsored By:
